Building experiences and blooming opportunities

Mission: to provide at-risk children with the intellectual, nutritional, and emotional support needed to excel and become functional members of their community and the world.

From 3:00pm – 7:00pm, 4 days a week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri), we service between 45-50 children whose ages range from 4 yrs. to 18 yrs. and grade levels ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade. Each child enjoys a home cooked nutritional meal, reading time, tutoring, and recreational activities. In addition, they receive hygiene products and access to the Center’s food pantry and clothing from our “Children’s Closet”. They also take part in seasonal field trips to Washington, DC’s cultural attractions as well as summer camps. All of these services are provided to those enrolled at no cost to them or their families.

Daily Schedule

On a daily basis, the children are provided dinner, take part in reading time, art projects and recreational activities. They also enjoy WRAP (Working to Reposition our Adolescent Population), which warrants them the opportunity to learn about local and world news and participate in an interactive question and answer session with the volunteers. They also enjoy Bible Study and take educational field trips to local attractions, once a month.
